Bio
Jon Kortajarena was born in Bilbao, Spain. He was discovered at 18 years old and booked his first campaigns with Just Cavalli and Versace within his first year of modelling.
Since then, Jon has worked consistently with the most distinguished photographers in the industry, including; Peter Lindbergh, Mario Testino, Steven Meisel, Mert and Marcus, Stephen Klein and Inez and Vinoodh, Jean Baptiste Mondino, Marrio Sorrenti..... He has worked with key magazines, gracing the covers of GQ, Vogue, V Man, L’Officiel Hommes, Elle Man, Marie Claire and Harpers Bazaar to name only a few.
After shooting the first Tom Ford campaign, Jon continued to work on projects with Tom Ford for 9 seasons, firmly cementing himself as Ford’s muse. Throughout his career Jon has starred in the campaigns
for some of the most important fashion brands and designers in the world including Karl Lagerfeld, Salvatore Ferragamo, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Cavalli, Chanel, Hugo Boss, Loreal’s Men Expert, Jean
Paul Gaultier Kokoriko perfume, as well as Carolina Herrera, being the 212 Fragrance image for 5 years.
Jon has established himself as integral to the aesthetic of high-end fashion houses worldwide, and he currently appears in the Guerlain L’Homme Ideal and Balmain campaigns. Recently, he has fronted
Bulgari’s fragrances campaigns such as the successful Aqva pour Homme, Aqva Amara and Aqva Divina. He is now Bulgari's official ambassador for their watches collections.
Jon Kortajarena is a 21st Century Fashion Icon; according to Vogue US he is the fourth most important male model of all time, and has been listed by Forbes as one of the top ten most influential models in the world. Jon has won numerous awards for his contribution to fashion and modelling, in the US, Italy, France, Mexico, Germany and Spain, as well as being made a member of the Mr Porter Style Council in the UK.
Alongside his modelling career, Jon has developed a conscious philanthropic career, being ambassador of both “Save the Children” foundation and Green Peace. Hand in hand with “Save the Children”, Jon visited Mexico and Nepal, in the aftermath of natural disasters to help support fundraising efforts.
Jon made his acting debut in Oscar-nominated “A Single Man” along with best actor award winner Colin Firth and Julianne Moore, and has since developed an exciting acting career; appearing in the controversial music videos for Madonna’s “Girl Gone Wild” and “Bitch I’m Madonna”, Kanye West’s “Wolves” (this video was used for the Balmain campaign as well) and most recently in Fergie’s
“M.I.L.F.$” video. Jon is developing a promising career in Hollywood. In the past year Jon has worked with Penelope Cruz twice, starring in her short film for “L’Agent Provocateur” and playing a role in “Ma
Ma” a film Cruz starred in with the renowned director Julio Medem. He received acclaim for his leading role, in the movie Acantilado, and the science fiction movie “Andron” co-starring with Alec Baldwin and
Danny Glover. He’s signed for the second season of “Quantico”, the acclaimed American show, starring with Priyanka Chopra, and has just filmed the movie “The Aspern Papers” along with Jonathan
Rhys-Meyers, Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson.
