Tom Tripp

Tom Tripp is a grammy nominated singer-songwriter, DJ, producer and composer who merges stylised alt-R&B with electro-pop.

A native of Islington, North London, of Nigerian descent, Tripp started producing beats at the age of 12; teaching himself how to play guitar, bass, and drums, whilst delving into home recording and production.

In late 2016, aged 21, Tripp released a demo of his debut single ‘Aurelia’ which captured the attention of the music blogosphere as well as alternative R&B artist NAO. She gave the song an official release on her Little Tokyo label in early 2017.

A few months later, Mura Masa featured Tripp on his single ‘Helpline’ from his debut album which received a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Dance / Electronic album’ at the 60th Grammy Awards. He appeared alongside A$AP Rocky, Charlie XCX and Desiigner, going on to perform with them at Coachella that same year. Tripp then issued his debut EP, ‘RED’, via his own Prime Sound label that October.

In May 2018, after months of being at the centre of a major label bidding war, he was picked up by Geffen Records in the U.S. and Polydor in the U.K. for the follow-up lead single ‘Loving You More’. This then led Tripp to join the British electronic band ‘Jungle’ for their 2018 UK tour where he was included in The NME 100.

Tripp’s second EP, FLAG, arrived in 2019 and included the track ‘Glow’ which was featured in Netflix Original Series ‘On My Block’. Getting picked up by the masses, the song charted at number 14 in the US Shazam charts and number 20 in the Globe, gaining over 6 million streams.

In 2021, Tripp released a further 2 singles, including the song ‘Running’ which was featured in the ITV award winning series ‘Trigger Point’ starring Vicky McClure.

In 2022, Tripp founded ‘Sound By Tripp’. A bespoke sound design and music composition company for fashion, film and commercials; working with major brands including Apple, Tag Heuer, NET-A-PORTER, Arc’teryx, NHS and more.

That same year, Tripp continued pushing boundaries in the music scene, expanding his skills as a DJ under the name ROADTRIPP, playing at various venues including Sketch London and Hotel Amour in Paris.

Throughout his career, Tripp has performed various live shows, including Coachella, Parklife, Field Day, and Electric Picnic, as well as supporting Jungle on their 2018 UK tour. Tripp also delivered a stand out performance for his sold out headline show at Colours Hoxton.

In the press, Tripp has received a run of praise from the likes of Harper's Bazaar, Fader, NME, Wonderland, Clash, Complex, Notion, COLORSXSTUDIOS and more, having his track ‘TAM’ voted best dance song by Harper’s Bazaar US.

In 2023, whilst continuing his DJ performances and expanding his composition work for brands such as Loewe, he was also nominated for the British Arrow Awards. Tripp has released his third EP ‘Way Out’, a project centred around the contemporary issues of a young black Londoner with a headline show will follow later in the year.
